Position Overview
The Palestinian American Medical Association (PAMA) seeks a visionary, dynamic, and strategic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization in its mission to provide
immediate medical relief and advance healthcare programs, education, and training in Palestine. The CEO will work under the guidance of the Board of Directors to implement
PAMA’s strategic vision, ensuring operational excellence, advocacy for health equity, and sustainable programmatic impact.
Founded in 2013 by Palestinian healthcare professionals in the U.S., PAMA has grown into a leading humanitarian organization dedicated to addressing healthcare disparities in Palestine. With a history rooted in collaboration and solidarity, PAMA unites healthcare professionals and partners across the West Bank, Gaza, and the U.S. to build comprehensive and sustainable healthcare solutions.
The CEO will exemplify PAMA’s core values of justice, human dignity, and access to healthcare, fostering a culture of integrity, inclusivity, and resilience across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
● Lead the implementation of PAMA’s strategic vision, as defined by the Board, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values.
● Provide high-level oversight and direction across the organization, ensuring that operations and programs are sustainable, impactful, and mission-driven.
● Serve as a credible and inspirational leader within the humanitarian and global health sectors.
Program Development and Advocacy:
● Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of medical and humanitarian programs in Palestine, Gaza, and displaced Palestinian communities.
● Serve as the public face of PAMA, advocating for health equity and humanitarian rights on international platforms.
● Build and strengthen partnerships with local, regional, and global stakeholders to advance PAMA’s mission.
Financial and Operational Oversight:
● Oversee PAMA’s financial sustainability through strategic budgeting, fundraising, and compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.
● Ensure sound financial management and provide regular updates to the Board of Directors.
● Develop and execute strategies to diversify funding sources, including institutional donors, philanthropists, and community-based fundraising.
Human Resources and Organizational Culture:
● Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and supportive work environment that reflects PAMA’s values.
● Lead the recruitment, development, and performance management of senior staff to maximize their potential and contribution to organizational goals.
● Ensure staff well-being and security, particularly in high-risk operational contexts. Stakeholder Relations and Donor Engagement:
● Build and maintain relationships with key donors, partners, and stakeholders to mobilize resources and expand the organization’s influence.
● Represent PAMA at public forums, conferences, and advocacy events to enhance visibility and secure support for its initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
● Advanced degree in Public Health, International Relations, Development Studies, Conflict Management, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
Experience:
● A minimum of 10 years in senior leadership roles within the nonprofit, humanitarian, or global health sectors, with proven experience in conflict zones or politically sensitive environments.
● Demonstrated experience in program design, delivery, and evaluation, particularly in humanitarian aid or global health.
● Extensive experience in fundraising, donor engagement, and managing multi-million-dollar budgets.
● Proven ability to advocate for marginalized populations and navigate complex political and cultural landscapes.
Skills:
● Strategic Leadership: Strong decision-making abilities, with the capacity to balance immediate operational needs and long-term organizational goals.
● Operational Management: Exceptional skills in managing people, finances, and systems, fostering a culture of measurable achievement and compliance.
● Advocacy and Representation: Excellent public speaking, communication, and influencing skills, with experience representing organizations in international forums.
● Cultural Sensitivity: High emotional intelligence and cross-cultural competence, with a deep understanding of Palestinian culture and political realities.
Languages:
● Fluency in English is required.
● Working knowledge of Arabic is strongly preferred; proficiency in other UN languages (e.g., French) is an asset.
