Provision of Essential Medical Equipment and Supplies to Support Hospitals in the West Bank (2025)

Palestinian American medical association - PAMA

Overview

Throughout 2025, PAMA supported hospitals across the West Bank through the targeted provision of essential medical equipment, infrastructure upgrades, and critical medical supplies.

The initiative responded directly to facility-identified needs across governmental and charitable hospitals, addressing specific clinical and operational gaps affecting patient care. Each intervention was designed to strengthen hospital readiness, improve service delivery, and support the continuity of essential healthcare services.

Project Details

Hospitals across the West Bank operate under evolving operational and security constraints that can disrupt access to medical equipment, supplies, and infrastructure upgrades. These challenges are particularly acute for facilities responding to increased service demand, movement restrictions affecting patient referrals, and intermittent disruptions in supply chains.

Strengthening hospital capacity through targeted equipment provision and infrastructure improvements helps ensure that healthcare facilities can maintain safe and effective services, particularly during periods of instability.

Key Interventions

PAMA implemented several targeted interventions during 2025 to strengthen hospital capacity and improve patient care.

  1. Advanced Diagnostic Equipment
    Al-Israa Hospital – Tulkarem
  • Provision and installation of a Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) probe
  • Strengthened capacity for advanced cardiac diagnostics and intra-operative monitoring
  • Supported safer management of complex cardiac and critical care cases

  1. Infrastructure Support
    Shepherds’ Field Hospital – Bethlehem
  • Installation of hospital elevators to improve vertical access between departments
  • Improved accessibility for emergency patients, patients with disabilities, and individuals with limited mobility
  • Enhanced patient flow and operational efficiency

  1. Emergency Medical Supplies
    Jenin Governmental Hospital – Jenin
  • Emergency procurement of essential medications and medical supplies
  • Initiated in response to heightened hostilities in the Jenin area
  • Designed to stabilize hospital operations and prevent service disruptions during periods of insecurity

Procurement and delivery processes for the Jenin intervention were ongoing at the end of 2025.
